Over 35 Years Experience In The Steering Column Business
My father and I started Steering Columns Galore in 1989 as a mobile steering column rebuilding service in New York City. Our customers were primarily repair shops, body shops and automotive dealerships. At the time auto theft was a major problem in NYC and many other parts of the U.S. With over 1.5 Million cars being stolen nationwide in 1989, business took off quickly. People that had their cars stolen needed to get their steering columns fixed. Luckily we were in the right place at the right time. We didn’t have much to start with, so we worked hard and invested the money back into the business. Slowly over time we added to our equipment, inventory and knowledge.

Best place I've ever done business with, top quality workmanship, fastest shipping ive ever seen. the 71 camaro steering column with tilt that I purchases looks brand new, also customer service is 2nd to none, Sally know more about steering columns than most mechanics, the price is to me on the low side, $575 for rebuilt oem part is fantastic with keys, I highly recommend SCG give this buisness a shout, hard working buisness not out to steel your money, and leave you with junk.

We feel we have a better chance of getting you the correct steering column the first time if we take your order over the phone. Because of that we prefer to take orders over the phone, the old fashioned way. We don’t want any misunderstandings!
There are many different types of steering columns, so not the same thing gets done to each.
But…
In general, Complete disassembly, sand blast to remove rust & paint, clean and degrease, inspect components, repack or replace bearings, grease moving parts, replace broken & worn parts, twenty point test, paint to match interior.
Most of our steering columns come with a new signal switch, new ignition lock, with 2 keys and a new electrical ignition switch.
Each of our steering columns product pages offers information that is unique to that particular part number.
Yes, most of our columns come with a new lock and 2 new keys! The only exception is when new locks with keys aren’t available for that specific model vehicle or if you have a transponder that requires your key or key fob to be programed to your vehicle.
It depends on the vehicle. None of our steering columns come with a steering wheel. The information about what comes with our steering columns is on the product page for each steering column. Or you can ask us anytime about the specific vehicle via email or phone.
If you are unhappy with any steering column you have bought from Steering Columns Galore Inc., return it with in 30 days for a full refund, including shipping.
Steering columns altered or damaged by customer are not included.
Shipping is based on the weight of the box and the location it is being shipped to. Generally speaking shipping via UPS Ground to any of the lower 48 states is normally between $60-$120 ROUND TRIP, we include a return label to get the core back. If you are closer to our shop it will cost less and if you are farther away you will be paying more.
A core charge is common in the automotive industry. Core charges are charged on alternators, starters, batteries, motors, transmissions and many more types of auto parts. The reason we have a core charge is to give you an incentive to mail back your broken steering column. Steering columns from the era we specialize in are hard to find. We want to continue selling rebuilt steering columns for many years to come, without cores we will go out of business. Besides recycling is good for the environment.
If you have the GM VATS antitheft system we include a new lock with one new key. Without the correct key, your car will not start.
You will need to provide us with the key number or resistance value of the chip in your key when you place the order. You can get the chip/key number from a GM dealership or locksmith. If you have a digital OHM meter you can read the chips resistance value and give us the resistance in kilo ohms.
Passenger Vehicles: 1 Year
Commercial Vehicles: 6 Months
We will replace any steering column under warranty free of charge including shipping.
Steering Columns altered or damaged by the customer are not covered.
Labor and towing are not covered.
